Why does it affect me?

- Has your premises got an Asbestos Register Compiled by a qualified Asbestos Consultant ?
- Do you have an Asbestos Survey report that shows locations of Asbestos on your premises?
- Did an Asbestos Consultant explain the action required to deal with the Asbestos Survey findings ?
- Is there a comprehensive Asbestos training management plan showing how Asbestos is managed on your premises?
- Does YOUR business need asbestos training?
Our asbestos consultants provide an essential service to most businesses. Asbestos is the biggest occupational killer in the UK - Asbestos related diseases kill 3,500 people a year. 25% of the deceases have once worked in the building and maintenance trades and would often work unknowingly on or near materials containing asbestos. These facts lead to an obvious solution - it is vital that asbestos surveys are carried out to ensure your working environment is safe.
What do I have to do?
A regular asbestos survey will help your business adhere to regulations surrounding asbestos training and control.

The new regulations require you to:
- Identify Asbestos Contaminated Materials (ACM). This can be done by allowing our asbestos consultants carry out asbestos surveys .
- Make and keep an up to date record of the location, condition and type of ACMs. Our asbestos surveyors will complete an asbestos register as part of the asbestos survey. This will help towards the asbestos training that we offer to your business.
- Assess the risk of anyone being exposed. The asbestos survey has a process built in that gives you a score that allows you to determine the risk within your business. This is shown in the data sheets completed by our asbestos consultants. Asbestos surveying allows early detection of any risk exposure.
- Prepare a plan setting out how the risks are to be managed. Correct asbestos training will help improve the management of asbestos. The asbestos survey report will identify areas that require action, such as asbestos training for staff, monitoring of asbestos repair or removal, plus any future asbestos surveying that may need to be conducted.
- Make safe any damaged Asbestos - an asbestos survey will aid the containment of asbestos ; the asbestos survey report includes a register that shows where the asbestos is located.
- Provide information to anyone who is liable to work or disturb Asbestos including, condition, type and affected premises. Correct asbestos training is essential and our asbestos consultants can find asbestos through a series of asbestos surveying.
Duty to Manage: How TASC can help ?
One of our Asbestos consultants will explain the law with regard to Asbestos in premises.
We will give you a copy of the HSEs 'Managing Asbestos In Premises' and explain the different type of Asbestos Surveys and which Asbestos Survey is appropriate for your premises in order for us to provide the best possible asbestos training. The HSE have introduced an explicit duty to manage Asbestos in non-domestic premises, which came into force on the 21 st May 2004 as part of the Control of Asbestos at work Regulations 2002 (CAWR).
The requirements of the new duty seek to prevent further unknowing exposure to Asbestos with the aim of saving 5000 lives over the next 10 years.
Correct management and asbestos training are important to your business, and perhaps more importantly, to your employees.
